Description: Not particularly large for an Avengaean Dark demon, even one only half grown, Casequin stands just over eight feet all at the shoulder, pitch black and shaggy, with a coat marked oddly for a demon. That it is marked at all is odd enough, but strands of white and smudges of gray make a pattern like spider webs across his shoulders and down his sides. His ears are large and mobile, set low on his head so that they droop slightly when not in an alert position, lined with gray at the edges and tips. His long, narrow head and muzzle are framed by two pairs of fledgling horns, covered in dark, fragile skin, and charcoal gray hair that hangs, tangled and thick, to half-shield his dark, red-gold eyes-- another oddity for a demon. At the end of his long tail, very long especially for one not yet fully grown, is another tuft of gray hair, long and disheveled.

Being three-quarters demon, Casequin is capable of shape-shifting into a human form. This form has black skin, marked in the same manner across his stomach, chest, shoulders, and up his throat, like a massive tattoo across the flesh. He is tall enough this way to be remarkable, as if to make up for his lack of size (relatively) on all fours, though at the moment he is gangly and slightly uncoordinated, due to his adolescence. He keeps himself impeccably groomed in this form, with his vibrantly golden hair always combed smooth and shiny and clothing always well-tailored.

Personality: Casequin is your typical antisocial, moody teenager-- at least, your typical antisocial, moody teenager with an overbearing, controlling, ambitious demonic mother, a decidedly magical nature, and a marked propensity towards sadism and decadence. He is more demonic than human, and it shows in his choices, preferences, and attitude. At the drop of a hat, he is capable of flying into a murderous rage, though more often than not he portrays smug superiority and utter boredom. His mother is the only one, so far, who has been able to cow him-- of course, no one else has really had the chance to try, given that he and she have lived mostly alone for all his life. At the same time, though, he hates her with a passion unequaled by his hatred of anything else, including himself.

The only thing Casequin can be said to actually care for is his bonded dragon-beast, Cherek. He does his best to care for the dragon, though he isn't entirely sure how, and Cherek usually ends up telling him what to do, anyway. The dragon has such a powerful personality that Casequin finds himself a little overwhelmed by him at times, but Cherek is unusually careful not to make him uncomfortable. Besides, he stands by him against his mother, and that alone would warm him to the half-breed.

History: Born to a bitter, vengeful demon mother, in the middle of the Avengaean underground, all alone and at her mercy, Casequin did not begin life happily. Actually, he can never remember being actually content, and though that may be his adolescent pessimism speaking rather than true memory, meeting his mother, Rao Vajhala, and knowing of their itinerant past might lead one to believe he speaks the truth. He has never had anywhere he calls home or anyone he calls friend, though he adamantly insists that he doesn't want either, and his one constant companion, Rao, is always trying to bully him into growing stronger and meaner-- which, on the whole, he is not adverse to, though her methods leave much to be desired.

Casequin's life up until recently has been taken up with survival, battle training, and listening to his mother's rants about the evils of the world, the unfairness of life, and, most irritating of all, the many faults and virtues of his absent, nameless father. He managed to slip away now and then, escaping her for some pleasures of his own, frightening villagers, hunting, or dabbling in magic, and it was those times he really lived for. All that has changed abruptly on him, however, as Rao has become aware of a chance that will raise the stakes in her plans for the future: a clutch hidden somewhere on Avengaea of eggs that need strong, dark souls to bond to the hatchlings. Her one goal became to get Casequin to that hatching, whether he wants to go or not, enticing him by telling him the hatching and bonding of a dragon had something to do with his father.

Though he did successfully attract one of the Hathian-Beast hatchlings, Casequin feels no closer to learning about his father than he had before. He hasn't worked up the courage to escape yet, but just knowing that Cherek hates Rao as much as he does is heartening. It is embarrassing, though, that Cherek, the second-largest in his clutching, easily quadrupled in size in the past two years, Casequin himself has only grown about a foot and a half.
