Searchers are the equivalent of Sythyn charity workers, with the condition that they perform their charities almost exclusively for individuals with Sythyn heritage. Mixed blood creates instabilities in successive generations, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, or magically, and often the offspring of mixed pairings do not even know what is wrong with them. The Searchers were created as a means to seek out, minister to, protect, and even return to the fold those who have the inherent problems of Sythyn blood. It is, perhaps, a kind of penance for creating those unlucky individuals, to begin with. 

Sythyn Searchers can be of any clan, creed, bloodline, or disposition. There are a variety of Searcher schools, and though they might focus on different methods and results, in general they are all places of compassion. Searcher groups consist of only three Searchers, one of whom is an older Sythyn, experienced in Searching or, in the current case, Hunting, and two of whom are younger and similar of age. Usually Searcher groups come from the same school, but this is not always the case, such as now. In fact, of the three Searchers on the ship Dyr aSashyn, only one actually went through Searcher education.
