Personality: | Though nowhere near as mentally or verbally
hyperactive as Yesinal is, Umax's similarity to Eyes of Stars extends
only to his appearance. If Eyes of Stars and Star of Day are too timid
and careful to go gallivanting about, at least in Umax Yesinal has
someone with enough energy to physically keep up with her and be equally
inclined to rowdiness. He's not the cleverest of creatures, and knows
it, so as he grows up he tends to speak only when he really has
something he thinks he needs to say, and even then he speaks very slowly
and carefully to make sure he's using the right words. Many times he'll
mess up, anyway, using a synonym that is a shade off from what he really
means, or even a homonym that totally confuses what he meant to
say. But even if he's not so smart, he's lovable, and never ashamed of
his lesser mental faculties-- embarrassed now and then, when he makes a
particularly bad mistake, but never for long and he's happy making a
joke of it. At least, whenever he manages to get the punch-line
right.
Much to his twin-bond's consternation, Eyes of Star's chaos-ability fascinates him. Ever since it randomly mutated him at their very first meeting, much of his youth has been spent making a game of trying to sneak up on the wynd and see if he can't surprise another mutation out of him. It drives both Eyes of Stars and Beacon absolutely batty, but it makes Yesinal laugh, which makes it worth it to Umax. |

Eyes: | Pearl |

Abilities: | Poison bite, stamina, telepathy, teleportation, twin bond. |
Personality: |
Smarter and calmer than Umax, Beacon is admittedly closer to his twin than he is to Yesinal, though he still bonded her, and does like her, rather in the way that an uncle might like a precocious niece, given his greater maturity. Having shared an egg and knowing Umax's slower mind so intuitively, though, leads Beacon to treat his twin with a protectiveness he doesn't think Yesinal needs. True to his name, Beacon is his brother's guiding light, always able to lead Umax's in the direction he just fell short of finding on his own. His is a gentle guidance, though, that of a loving tutor rather than an impatient professor, and if he could ever be persuaded to branch out, he could make a good teacher. For the moment, however, he's content with merely his brother, Yesinal, and a small circle of friends. There's only one thing in the world(s) that ruffles Beacon's cool: Eyes of Stars. Though he's embarrassed to confess to it, he's terrified of the wynd's chaotic abilities, though not the wynd himself. He doesn't mind Eyes of Stars when he's at a safe distance, but Beacon is utterly convinced that his minuscule size makes him utterly vulnerable to being warped or changed in some way-- and as small as he is, he doesn't think he has much to change! He's willing to talk to Eyes of Stars from far away, and since such is possible with telepathy he'd be quite content to be long-distance friends. He's quick to apologize for his behavior, knowing it makes Eyes of Stars feel bad, but nevertheless, he refuses to go anywhere near the wynd. Unless somebody comes up with something that can guarantee he's protected against being changed, he never will. At the same time, he does quite like Eyes of Stars' new bond, Star of Day. Whenever she can be persuaded to move far enough from her bonded, Beacon doesn't mind using her as a perch instead of Umax, when Umax is busy bouncing around in ways that would send him flying. He regrets that she doesn't understand that he doesn't dislike her bond, but hopes that someday she'll understand. |
