Personality: | When Pallor chose a child from Cleff and
Bloodmoon's litter, he had hoped for someone as clever, cruel, and
conniving as he, who he could raise to be a better servant than his
demon-hounds or his ghostly bond. Clever, he received, even conniving,
but cruelty, willing servitude, and loyalty to himself were not to be.
Crystalline is not a kind soul, exactly, but she has far more compassion
than he does and is more drawn to his ghostly companion than he is. In
fact, as soon as she learned of Constantine, she set about finding a way
to see and communicate with him even when he didn't make himself
visible, as well as see whatever demons or spirits haunt him. He is the
reason she did not abandon her own sponsor early on in life.
Crystalline is not stupid enough to actively challenge Pallor, since she knows he is dangerous-- more dangerous than she is, certainly-- nor does she even actually act rebellious. She is very diplomatic, sensing how best to handle him without actually angering him. When she disagrees, she does it respectfully, and though he knows she has no actual attachment to him, she mostly does what he says just to keep the peace. That doesn't stop her from trying to find ways to subtly undermine him, or to sever the ties keeping Constantine to him, or even to destroy him-- but since he is wary of her, she has had no luck so far, and does not expect luck anytime soon. She is patient, however; his time will come. |
