"I so want to research that!"

Name: Alagael Aguiar
Candidate at: Star City Dragonry
Homeworld: Earth
Species: Human:
Sex: Female
Age 26
Hair: Brown, straight and long, somewhat stringy
Skin: Pale, more towards the yellowed than pink
Eyes: Hazy green, hidden by glasses
Height: 5'1"
Family: Darren Aguiar, husband; Lizbet Aurver, sister
Residence: Star City Station
Profession: Anthropologist
Description: Short and slightly pudgy, with thin, brown hair that is never styled beyond a ponytail or simple braid, antique lenses-- she refuses to have any kind of surgery or cyborware installed to correct her poor vision-- and complete lack of fashion sense or fashion care, Alagael looks like your typical, workaholic geek. Yet beneath the extra weight, Alagael is strong, and behind the glasses, her green-gray eyes are bright and intelligent. Her face could be attractive if she bothered to do anything with it, with strong lines, a rounded chin, long lashes, and full lips-- but she doesn't bother. Still, she manages to come across as pretty when she smiles, finds the time for a night out with her husband to dress up for a show or a fancy dinner, or both.
Personality: Eager and enthusiastic when it comes to her work, but not necessarily outgoing, Alagael has a deep love for "primitive" cultures-- that is, non-technological. She is highly organized and dedicated when it comes to work or study, despite the fact that her room is a disaster area. Though she respects other cultures' gender roles while in the field or doing research, she is a staunch feminist when she thinks she can get away with it-- in large part because she hates "womanly" things like cooking, cleaning, and children, not really even because she thinks women are being oppressed in modern society.

Though Alagael is highly intelligent and well-spoken more often than not, she does not take well to being embarrassed and has a tendency to rush in before thinking things through properly, and then needs help once she gets things started and finds she can't see them through. Let no one call her flaky, though, for she will be quite offended-- since she isn't flaky in the slightest. She loves animals, but children make her nervous, and being around too many adults for too long-- which isn't very many or very long, for most other people-- wear her out.

History: Alagael came from a fairly average family, a second-generation import from Earth: her parents grew up on Earth, but she was born on the station. Her parents eventually went back to the planet, but Alagael and her sister Lizbet, both in college at the time, remained behind on the station to finish their schooling. Alagael graduated with a Masters degree in anthropology two years ago, and is now finishing her first publishable write-up for the results of her first field assignment, on a remote elven clan on Atu, below Star City.

Now that she's got her first publication almost ready, Alagael is just itching to make plans for a new assignment, somewhere more exotic-- or just farther away-- than Atu. She thinks that the appearance of an actual Old World dragon clutch on her home station is providing the answer: with a dragon of the Pernese persuasion, she can actually investigate Pern. How many anthropologists actually wrote about the cultural patterns on the traditional dragonhome planet, after all? No one! Until now, that is. With an Old World dragon, not only would she be free to travel around Pern itself, but other worlds, as well! And beside, who wouldn't want a partner as forgiving and sweet as Pernese dragons could be?

With that in mind, Alagael signed up for the clutch and suggested her husband do the same. He, a bit less enthusiastic-- he didn't much like Pernese dragons, seeing as his field of expertise has nothing to do with Pern and they're really a rather boring-- did so, but expects to bond at a different clutch entirely.
