Description: | Singer isn't very big for an Astral chyrith,
but he's of good size for a Dream chy, though not as built as either
usually get. He has the tail tuft of an Astral chy, the round nose of a
Dream chy, and the tufted ears of both. His eyes are a stormy gray-blue
and his black hair falls both in front of and behind his hears in thin,
straight locks. What truly sets him apart, makes other chyriths stare,
is the brilliant contrast of his coat. His fur is streaked with black,
gray, and white in bold lines. He stands out in most places, making
invisibility a spell he is well used to. Running down his back, from
neck to tail, is a strip of dark violet, fragmenting in places down his
sides and also spotting his paws, as if he stepped in paint and didn't
bother to wash it off. His wings, when unveiled, have the same black and
gray streaks across the membrane and the same violet along the
wing-arms.
Growing up in an Astral community, Singer is pierced several times, though not enough to mark him as any kind of warrior but a reluctant one. Two rings, two studs, and a bar mark each ear, none of them the Sire Piercing most Astrals are given at birth. Both his right nostril and left lower lip are pierced and two rings joined by a chain adorn the tip of his tail, just below the tuft. He bears a ring in his right eyebrow, to show his defeat of the Chaos Lord Loathe, and another in his left eyebrow for the defeat of a nameless, though less royal, opponent. Every piece of metal on his person is gold, as Singer refuses to wear anything else. Being a chyrith, Singer has the ability to shape-shift, most commonly into a human body with the same long, black hair and stormy eyes, pale skin, and a very Asian look to him. He generally wears simple clothing when in human form, a loose tunic with a thick cloth sash with comfortable leggings. If he happens to want to look formal, he can appear in vaguely Chinese robes with long sleeves and a sash falling over either shoulder. Gold mirrors all the same piercings in the same places as he wears as a chyrith. |
Personality: | Singer is usually calm, kind, and patient,
if a little on the gloomy side, while occasionally his temper is phenomenal
and he will willingly shred anything in his path. His worst fear is to
be left alone forever, with no company but the whispering spirits that
often haunt him, but it is buried beneath the comfort of the breed pack
he has started to gather, and is still gathering, of Spirit chyriths.
Being a wanderer was never the life he would have chosen, but though he
is much happier out of it, he has rather missed the freedom of
exploration.
With the advent of his Lordship, and the addition of fifteen cycles since he discovered who and what he was, Singer has found a new peace and maturity-- enough to not be concerned when others insult or attack him just for his breed. He still tends towards being dark though optimistic, and his temper does occasionally flare, but he has gained an eloquence and stability as he has aged, growing into the position granted him by Cerebus. He has also learned how to treat the spirits as companions more than enemies, but even as companions they can simply be too much: who wants to hear about how the dead died every day, all day? |
History: | Most of Singer's youth was spent in
wandering, cast out of the Astral chyrith pack his father had been a
part of and shunned by the Dream chyrith packs his mother had been a
part of. Accompanied by the spirits only his rare, superstitiously hated
breed of chyrith could see and hear, he searched for what, exactly, he
was, and what that meant. It was a long quest, taking him to the breed
leaders of the gentle Dreams and the violent Astrals, involving him in
the birth and naming in another of his own breed, and to the most
ancient of all chyriths, Cerebus, a Spirit chy of the old breed. It was
there, on top of Cerebus' mountain, that Singer received the title of
Breed Leader.
For the fifteen years since then, Singer has bent the bulk of his time and attention on rounding up as many of the persecuted Spirit chyriths as he can find, bringing them together for mutual protection and companionship. He has mostly been successful, and upon having more leisure time, took an effort to explore his own powers-- which, he discovered, included the ability to walk between not only planes of existence, but also worlds. That, among other things, is what drew him to Tris'Hath with his young friend and protectorate, Reketet. |
