Samanayr: Song of the Magic Waters
"Thank you so much foyr doing this!" "Hey, it's not a problem. Any excuse at all to practice a little magic, and I'm usually interested," Novitas chuckles at the frisky Samanayr stallion cantering around her feet. "It is still a kind thing you do!" Return of the Desert Rain answers, beaming as much as a horsy little face like his can beam. "Well, you're welcome," Novitas says graciously, nodding her head and, once again, glad that she decided not to try coming in her full dragon form. She has enough trouble, as it is, not stepping on the energetic little fellow. "How far did you move from your father, anyway?" "Oh, a ways," Return responds. "He is a little pyrotective of his teyrritoyry, you know, and would have been pyrotective of me, too! I wanted to stayrt new, you see. But we ayre almost theyre." "Oh, good," Novitas grunts, scrambling over a rockfall that Return seems to simply fly over. "I had to offer to help out the little runt, didn't I... the little runt who just had to be independent and want to live out on the boonies...." "Ayre you coming?" Return calls from above. "Right behind you!" Novitas calls back, and picks up the pace. "Serves me right for not being in shape...."

Having an easy-going mother like Crest tempered the passion Return inherited from his father. Rather than being suspicious or quick to defend, Return is curious and friendly, with a ready charisma that Treader might have had if he weren't so uptight. He certainly isn't one to chase people away from his mares! He's also very fond of singing, for whatever reason, or perhaps no reason at all! | Samanayr, some Lamanayr blood |
"Finally!" Novitas exclaims as the ground levels off and rocky forest gives way to a clearing and the source of the stream they'd been following. "I know it is a bit of a climb, but it is safe, and a veyry nice spot!" Return says apologetically. Looking around, Novitas has to agree. It is a lovely spot. Picturesque, even. Also looking around, she spots someone she hadn't expected to see, standing to one side of the little pool. "Hello, Wave. I thought you were still living with Jed?" The little pink-and-blue Samanayr, Wave of the Sunset Pond, dips her head in greeting, then glances sidelong at Return, without any expression that Novitas can discern. "yRetuyrn wanted me to join his Song. He was veyry peyrsistent. I finally gave in. Jed still visits me often, howeveyr, as does my dam." "Eveyry Song must have mayres," Return says, a little uncomfortably, and scuffs his hooves on the hard ground. "And I like heyr...." Taking pity on him, Novitas crouches down by the waterside and ruffles his fluffy mane. "He's a nice guy, at least, right?" "He is nice enough," Wave agrees without enthusiasm. "If you will excuse me?" |

Though she inherited Ripple's curly mane, Wave most certainly did not inherit her mother's personality! Instead, she is quiet, introspective, only distantly friendly to strangers, and sweet to those she particularly likes. She is much more prone to thought than action. | Samanayr

Once Wave has melted into the pine forest surrounding the spring, Return dips one forehoof into the water. "She does not like me veyry much, does she?" "Give her time, Wave's just slow to open up," Novitas assures him, feeling a little awkward at trying to give romantic advice to a miniature, talking horse. She promptly changes the subject. "So you want me to heat up your pool, or not?" Return perks immediately. "Yes, if you please!" "One honest-to-gods hot spring, coming right up," Novitas grins, and gets to work. |
