Personality: | As he has spent most of his life alone in
the deep mountains, it is no surprise that Fedalamar generally prefers
his own company to anyone else's-- or, perhaps, just the company of the
pure earth. He loves anything to do with rock, and is very knowledgeable
about different rock types, how they are formed, how they're shaped, and
what they feel like. If someone wants to hear him talk-- though not
necessarily on topics that interest them-- all one has to do is
get him going about rocks: he'll talk for hours, lovingly giving any
listener far more information about stone, clay, and dirt than anyone
ever wanted to know. What he prides himself in the most is his ability
with the earth, and it is one of the things that gives him true joy to
work with that ability.
When it comes to anything else, though, he's bit of a grump: a taciturn, suspicious, gravelly-voiced grump. Only those who are particularly kind or particularly stubborn really bother with trying to be friends with him, and only those who don't make a nuisance of themselves-- and Fedalamar's notions of what a "nuisance" is are rather broad-- will he actually call more than an annoying acquaintance. Once he decides someone is a friend, however, and that someone continues to not make a nuisance of himself or herself, he is a good friend: loyal, protective, and surprisingly patient. He tends to grumble a lot, however, friend or no friend, as if afraid to be caught actually seeming happy in the company of another. |
History: | Fedalamar has always been a recluse, ever
since he left his parents' den as soon as he was eleven: old enough that
they let him without trying to bring him back. He'd tried several times
before, but was always tracked down and brought home again. He loved his
parents, of course-- he even visited them once a year or so, just to
look in on them, until they died in a cave-in when he was twenty; that's
one reason he has worked so much with his Earth ability-- he just
preferred to be alone more often than not. Since then, he spent most of
his time just that: alone. He had a few visitors, creatures he shared
his territory with, but on the whole he was happily hermit-like.
When the secluded mountain range where he made his home was finally colonized and then, soon after, overrun by Sharians attracted to the beautiful region, he gave up and decided to give this 'socializing' thing a try again. He's attempting to be more social but finding it difficult, claiming that the earth makes better conversation than any living thing, but those who staunchly stand up for him believe he'll warm up once he's used to civilization again. He, however, is not so sure. |
Abilities: | Unsurprisingly, Fedalamar has the usual
enkeyn abilities: flight, verbal speech in whatever language he makes an
effort to learn, and, not universal but not uncommon, telepathy. Also
unsurprisingly, given his love for the earth, he has a very powerful
Earth Ability. He claims it is strong enough that he is able to speak
with stones and the very earth, though this has not been proven, since
no one else who knows him has the same ability. Forming stone is very
easy for him to do, however, and he claims that he could move the very
mountains if he desired. Though this is likely just a boast, if he is
actually able to move mountains he will have the strongest Earth Ability
ever documented.
Mountain Enkeyn need to eat a little bit of stone to ensure proper claw growth and care, but Fedalamar has taken this to a bit of an extreme. He claims to require a goodly amount of stone in his diet every day, which has restricted his flying abilities and resulted in the stone spurs and spines on various parts of his body. |
