Description: | Tinar shifts easily between the forms his
heritage allows him, though most of his traits remain constant through
them all. He is big and burly, whether human or horse or both in some
fashion, with weathered skin and well-defined muscles that mark him as
both warrior and traveler. As a horse or centauran, he is massive, of a Clydesdale
variety, with short fur of a deep, rich red and points of fine black.
His powerful, heavy hooves are covered in feather, also black, that
matches the feathery, black hair atop his human form and also running
down his back, as a centaur. He has a heavy head in any form, rather
ungraceful as a horse and broad with a thick, square jaw as a man. In
any form, he has hazel-brown eyes.
Of the four physicalities Tinar can choose from, he is most often either a full horse or a half-human, half-horse combination, in a centaur configuration. He keeps his weapons, a pair of massive cutlasses, strapped to his sides either way, and in both bodies, his four natural weapons, his heavy hooves, are always readily accessible. No matter what form he chooses for a given time, he goes without as many clothes as is socially acceptable, finding them merely constraining and difficult to move in. |
Personality: | Tinar is serious and taciturn, often expressionless while his mind works through whatever situation he is in, in ponderous but inexorable manner. He is not good at thinking on his feet in social situations, and hates when he can't file things comfortably into black and white, right and wrong, good and bad, and when something baffles him, he tends to be very indecisive about how to respond, and thus, often doesn't respond. He doesn't talk much, though in many cases that is simply because he can't think of anything to say. If he had, had his choice, he would have happily spent his life guarding his herd and never straying more than a few miles from their current territory. He is very loyal to his family, if a bit disgusted by their pacifism, and protective to a fault. His favorite activity is anything physical, be it fighting, practicing fighting, running, or chopping wood. |
Magic: | Tinar's magic isn't especially powerful, as he is not a mage by nature or by preference, but he can make use of a few Earth-aligned abilities, such as bolstering his own strength in battle or while running, or mentally mapping terrain in his surroundings. Psionically, he has next to no skill, nor does he particularly care to cultivate what he does have. He doesn't like messing with mind-stuff, and would be perfectly content ignoring telepathy for the rest of his life. |
History: | In brief, Tinar has run away from his herd in an attempt to better the lives of the people he loves. The mainly peaceful herd of Equis have been recently preyed upon by the nearest Researcher, harrying them to and from different territories with seemingly no reason and kidnapping individuals for unknown purposes. Tinar is one of the few who want to make a stand against the persecution, but he can't do it alone, or even with a couple other valiant stallions in the herd. So, in an attempt to stir the hearts of his herd to pride and power again, the few renegades decided that something drastic must be done. It was finally agreed upon that one among them would travel to the distant Shivran Aerd, subdue a Wyld dragon or two in the famous Hunts, and convince them to take up the herd's cause against their oppressors. None of them really wanted the job, though, being of a similar herd-loving mentality to Tinar himself, so straws were pulled, and Tinar pulled the short straw-- so away he went. His rather accidental meeting and traveling with the Vulpyr vixen Methiel is one of those things he isn't sure how to react to, so he has just accepted it silently and moved on, taking her with him to the Aerd. |
