| Personality: | Despite being athletic and physical,
Arkheth is not competitive: should he lose or win, he simply enjoys
playing the game and challenging himself. He is, at heart, laid back and
largely accepting of himself and others-- which both fuels his
sympathies for his bond and annoys him about his bond. He sees
Jeriacor's drive to be better than other people less as part of his
nature and more as a lack of self-worth-- which is perhaps partly true--
and rather than feeding that desire, he tries to make his bond feel
accepted and worthwhile exactly as he is. To Arkheth, very few people
are "better" than other people, and everyone has worth and a
reason for being proud of themselves exactly as they are.
That doesn't mean, however, that he likes everyone and doesn't get upset with or annoyed by people. For one thing, whenever his more peaceful tactics don't make his bond feel better, he gets frustrated. Also, as the one who chose Jeri first, and as someone with the point of view that competitiveness is self-defeating and detrimental to friendships, Arkheth does not like Odiwa. He and the half-avyndal are often at odds, except when Arkheth gives up and lets Odiwa do as he pleases. He doesn't approve of Odiwa's attempts at making himself and Jeriacor look better in the eyes of others, but he can't exactly stop him. To him, Odiwa seems to be working to undermine everything he wants his bond to understand and appreciate, and that alone makes it hard for them to get along. |
