Description: Though Nicole might not be the most beautiful young woman in Star City's club scene, she is certainly in the top ten, particularly if one likes the doll-like, delicate types. She is short and petite, almost ghostly in her slender build, with a graceful figure, long legs for her size, and delicate, long-fingered hands. Though she shuns the tanning of excessive sun-treatments that go in and out of vogue, her clean, milky skin is nearly luminescent and is has its own, classic beauty to it. In her small, round face, her dark blue eyes seem over-large, her chin small and well-defined, her nose a faintly freckled button, and her mouth small but full, particularly attractive with the perfect shade of lip color applied. Her clothing is all of the best brands, perfectly suited to her figure and coloring, and usually oddly conservative, for the crowd she runs with.
Personality: Nicole comes across as cheerful, friendly, and confident; she's beautiful, she's intelligent, she's popular, and she's got everything anyone could ever want. However, being perfect has it's costs: she is a perfectionist, with high expectations of herself and a well-hidden low self-esteem. She is obsessed with trying to get control over her own life, feeling distinctly like it is out of control, particularly when it comes to her parents, but also due to her rather sudden climb in social circles to fill the niche former club-queen Deborah Falken abandoned a few years ago. She is a different lady of the night than Deborah was: though she has the former club-queen's incredible charisma and apparent confidence, or even more, and has many of the same kind of high-class connections, she shows far less of Deborah's insatiable appetite for men and sex, less disillusionment with life, and more ambition.

One of the most dangerous manifestations of Nicole's desire for control is in her weight: she controls what she puts into herself with nearly military discipline, exercises like an olympian, and keeps detailed track of everything she eats. Most people don't realize it, because she is so masterful at manipulating appearances that a casual glance doesn't show how thin she really is, but she really is dangerously so. Yet, despite the danger, she still sees herself as overweight, and is disgusted with her inability to "keep control" over how she looks.

History:  Nicole is the single child of highly successful diplomat Pierce Cochems and highly successful music producer Audrey Cochems, neither of whom care very much for each other despite their now twenty-five year marriage. Young Nicole was raised in wealth and comfort, but also amid much bickering between her parents, neither of whom had much time for their daughter. They gave her the best they could in toys, clothes, and education, but that wasn't what she craved. Pierce's rare and somewhat awkward affection and Audrey's proud and stern expectations did not make up for the lack of their presence and love. Even so, Nicole has always been the perfect daughter, rising to meet Audrey's usually unfairly high expectations, giving Pierce nothing to worry about, earning top grades in school, and showing the world the face of utter serenity.

As she ages, though, that mask becomes harder and harder to hold up, and the pressures lead to cracks in the mask. One of those is her feeling that she has no control in her life, and her remedy to that, which is to throw more energy into everything she does, a tactic that will burn her out even sooner. Another is her deteriorating relationship with her mother: they bicker and fight almost as much as Audrey fights with her husband. The most dangerous, however, is her growing obsession with food and her weight, which has only recently been diagnosed as full-blown anorexia, despite her attempt to hide it from her parents. Now, not even that does she have control over, because though her father is starting to see what he has neglected to do, and wants to find some way to make up for the lack, her mother is determined to fix her-- in her own fashion.
