"What'd I say?"

Name: Kang Hsin
Bond: Nahigicu
Bonded At: Star City Dragonry
Homeworld: Star City Station
Species: Half human, half red panda anthro
Age: 31
Sex: Male
Height: 5'9"
Parents: Makotin Hsin (father) and Dayna Fiorlea (mother)
Siblings: Li Hsin (younger sister)
Position: Part-time waiter at the Lunar Lumiglow and the CyborNexus
Description: For the most part, Kang Hsin looks human, or at least like one of those humans who has heavily modified himself, adding a full coat of fuzzy, reddish-orange fur; tufted, reddish-brown ears; and a long, ringed tail of both reddish-orange and reddish-brown. What isn't so obvious, but which he is hardly embarrassed about, is none of those are among his cyborware modifications. He is a human-anthromorph hybrid, of both Chinese and red panda descent, resulting in the fur and tail combined with angled, black eyes and straight, black hair combed down to either side of his triangular ears.

Of course, even though none of those traits are enhancements done at his own behest, he is just as enamored with cyborware as the rest of the station. His slim arms are decorated heavily with burnished gold filigree in graceful, artistic Chinese symbols, each with their own meanings-- though he, himself, is hard pressed to remember what each of them mean, other than that they're supposed to be good things. His fingernails have been permanently replaced with lumiglow-based bits of fiber-optic plastic that display various, computer-generated patterns and are nearly long enough to be called claws-- though they are rounded and really useless as a weapon, unless the object is to poke someone's eyes out.

Personality: One has only to ask the locals of Star City who their most sociable station-dwellers are, and Kang's name will pop up among the top ten list every time. He loves people of all kinds, from geeks to socialites like himself, from humans to the most bizarre alien types, and isn't afraid to brag about who his friends are: everybody! He might think he's closer to people than they might think, however, for his cheer and innocent fun also come with a tendency to say exactly what he's thinking, regardless of whether it could be deemed rude, and a habit of poking fun where it isn't wanted. Even so, he still thinks everyone likes him, and he is eternally positive: everything is worthy of a grin or a laugh, to him.
History:  Kang is a statement about not only the freedom of living but also the abilities of the doctors on the Star City space station: the genetics of his father, an Asian human, and his mother, a red panda anthromorph, did not want to mix for the first six years of their marriage, which would, in and of itself, be controversial in many other places. The aid of fertility doctors, however, produced first Kang and then Li, his younger sister. The difficulty they went through for their children led Kang's parents to want to get the best for them in everything, and as they were fairly successful at their own careers-- space vessel design and engineering, and travel consulting, respectively-- for the most part, they did. The result is Kang, cheerful and easy-going, and Li, slightly spoiled but still highly motivated. Neither have to work, but both do, anyway, Kang to keep from being bored and Li because she hates depending on others.

When Kang's friend Heironymous (Mouse) signed him up to be a candidate at his dragon's clutch, without so much as a by-your-leave or would-you-like, he was first indignant and stubbornly refused to so much as attend. As the months passed and the eggs hardened, though, the idea took firmer root, and he started getting excited about it. At first, he wouldn't admit it, and veiled his questions about how the clutch and parents were doing in casual comments and assurances that he "really didn't care", but by the last month of incubation, he didn't even bother with that and was almost as cheerfully anxious as the clutch's father, himself. His bond, Nahigicu, has a name that makes Kang laugh just to say it and is, in Kang's eyes and Nahigicu's, as well, just perfect for him.
