Kalaia's Story: Pre-bonding
I'm soooo bored. There's nothing to do in here. --Wanna go out? I thought you'd want to. You look as bored as I am. I bet you're even more bored, since Keren and Gavin aren't here. *giggle* You perk up so, when I say that... their names, I mean. It's cute. I suppose I shouldn't say their names and get your hopes up, though. Keren-- I mean, my sister-- told me what you did last time she took you to work and let you stay there the whole day. Even Nekeress is more behaved than you are, and that's saying something. It would be very bad if that happened again, or something worse, especially since you're getting bigger. You were so little when she first brought you home... you've got to be three times as long already, and it's only been a couple weeks! I wonder when you'll get your second set of legs.... Well, that's neither here nor there. I said we'd go out. Let me just find my vest-- oh, there it is. --Igess, give it back! You're going to tear it-- Igeeeeeess! *laugh* Thank you. You know, Igess, you're kind of fun to talk to, now that you're nice to me. I'm glad K-- my sister got you talked around. Even if you don't really talk back, you still kind of understand, right? Right? See, I knew you did. Come on, let's go find something interesting to watch. Igess, in here! No, we're not staying on the residential decks, they're too dangerous. You could get into trouble, and I don't really know how to get you out of it again. We're taking the lift. It's okay, Igess, you've been in here before. It won't hurt you-- there you go. Nothing to be afraid of. Just sit there and let me pick something. Hmm. Business decks are boring, lets not go there. Dragon residential decks-- they're nice there-- but, oh, but we went there yesterday. How about something different today? You think so, too? Well, they weren't very nice to you, I don't know why, you're such a cute thing, even if you do attack people sometimes-- but they weren't, so I guess you wouldn't want to go there, anyway. The public decks... there's all sorts of fun stuff there, but there's too many people. You could get into trouble there, too. My sister would be very unhappy if you got into trouble when I was supposed to be watching you-- actually, she'd be pretty unhappy if I got into trouble when you were supposed to be watching me. --You're right, she probably wouldn't be very happy with us just going out, either, but I'm just too bored with playing computer games and reading books. And you looked bored with chasing your tail, too, so don't even look at me like that. Everything will be all right, just remember to behave yourself. Oh! I know where I want to go! No, I'm not telling. You'll find out when we get there. It won't take long, I promise. You remember how fast these lifts go, don't you? Don't you? Oh... well, you'll find out, then. There. See? We're already here. Where are we? Come on, I'll show you. Look familiar? Oh, it doesn't? Well, I guess you weren't paying a lot of attention when you were here the first time. You were really young-- just hatched, actually. Or just... bursted... I guess. I'm really glad I wasn't there, no offense. Just seeing you come home all bloody was yucky enough. Do you know where we are yet? Look, see the sign? Hatching Bay One. We're on the hatching deck. Aha, see, I knew you'd remember. That was a big day for you. It was a big day for my sister, too, you know, bonding you and Nekeress, and having to share you with G-- the Minister, too! That was a big change. But at least it got her a job. She was even more bored than me, before he asked her to join the force. Now I've never seen her happier, it's even better than back on Tanazira. --*giggle* Yes, I'm sure you have something to do with it, too, Igess. Of course she loves you. *sigh* My dragon might be in one of these bays, you know. I don't know which, yet. I don't even know if they've been laid yet. Or even if their parents have flown yet! I figure I'll know when they get close to hatching, though. I knew for sure I wasn't supposed to go to the ones we've already had, yours and that rainbowy one. It's too bad, too; those rainbowy ones were pretty. I guess K-- my sister wouldn't really want one of them running around the house, anyway. She told me they hurt her eyes. How did I know? I don't know, I just did. I just know things sometimes. It's weird. I knew Keren-- oops, sorry, no, she's not here yet, Igess, calm down. There you go... you'll see her in a few hours, when she gets home. But anyway, I knew she should have gone to your hatching, you know. She went to the rainbowy one first, anyway, but I told her she didn't need to. So, since I knew for her, I figure that I'll know which one I'm supposed to go to, too. Well, I hope I will. I guess I might not; knowing for somebody else and knowing for yourself is really different, you know. --No, I suppose you don't know... well, it is. I might just go to every hatching from now until the right one, anyway, just in case. I don't know. I just wish it would hurry up and come, though.... I want to meet my dragon, just like my sister did. .... Are you hungry, Igess? I'm getting hungry. Maybe we should go back and make some lunch. Come on, I'll make you your favorite. *giggle* Yes, I promise. Come on, let's get back to the lift. --Race ya! |
